A fine oil on canvas portrait by the French painter Eugene Faure (1822-1879) of an elegant lady wearing a long black dress in an interior.

Signature: Lower right.

Condition: Painting and frame are both in good condition. The canvas has been lined and there is some scattered re-touching.
Measurements: Painting measures 68 x 41cm and the overall frame 97 x 70cm.
Biography: Eugène Faure, a French painter of allegories, mythological subjects, and portraits, was born at Seyssinet, near Grenoble, in 1822. He studied under David d’Angers and Rude, and his first work, a landscape, now in the Grenoble Museum, appeared at the Salon in 1847. He died in Paris in 1879.
